The India Carpets Expo is on at Pragati Maidan till March 30.

Carpets have a way of providing a unique look to any space — whether an office or home — and brings a sense of warmth. And India is a country know for its weavers, who have upheld the tradition, skill and heritage of carpet making.

To showcase the weaving skills of Indian hand-knotted carpet artisans, the India Carpets Expo is being organised at hall numbers 8 to 11 in Pragati Maidan on March 27-30.

Over 450 overseas carpet buyers from 57 countries are expected to visit the expo, apart from Indian buyers.

The event was inaugurated by Minister of State for Textiles Santosh Kumar Gangwar.

Carpet Export Promotion Council of India chairman Kuldeep R. Wattal said the expo will lead to opening up of new market opportunity for the industry and help small Indian carpet exporters in promoting their products in the overseas market.

The Carpet Council is showcasing the products of more than 275 manufacturers from all over country and the sales will benefit about two million weavers and artisans employed in the labour-intensive rural based MSME cottage industry.
