IAS officer held on corruption charge suspended

Jitendra Gupta, a 2013 batch IAS officer who was arrested in a corruption case, was on Wednesday suspended by the Bihar government.

A General Administration Department notice stated that Mr. Gupta has been suspended till next order.

Mr. Gupta, who was Sub- Divisional Officer of Mohania in Rohtas district, was held by the Vigilance Department on July 12 for allegedly indulging in corruption.

A case was registered against him in the vigilance police station under the anti-corruption law.

Papers of some trucks seized was found in possession of the IAS officer on complaint lodged by a trucker.

The arrest of the officer had triggered protest from the State IAS officers’ association.

The association had held a meeting here on last Sunday and decided to petition Governor Ramnath Kovind and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on the issue. PTI
