: An East Delhi Municipal Corporation sanitation employee was suspended and another worker given a warning on Saturday when Mayor Harsh Deep Malhotra found the area to be lacking in cleanliness.

The Mayor was inspecting sanitation services in Khichripur ward when he found heaps of garbage lying in the open in Dallupura village and behind a public school in the area.

Sanitary guide Bhanwar Singh was suspended, and would soon receive a charge-sheet.

“Sanitation is our primary responsibility and there can be no laxity in the services,” said the Mayor.

A sanitary inspector was also given a warning, and the area executive engineer (electrical) was issued a memo for being absent during the inspection.
