Demolish illegal construction: HC

The High Court on Wednesday directed the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) to demolish an illegal five-storey structure being raised adjacent to the DDA flat of a teacher, who had petitioned that it will block sunlight and fresh air to her house besides putting many lives at risk in case of a collapse.

Meenakshi Jha moved the HC against the construction adjacent to her flat in Bindapur, Uttam Nagar. “The original beams have been demolished, which has caused threat to the petitioner’s flat,” said F.K. Jha, counsel for the petitioner. The HC has directed the SDMC to demolish the structure on Thursday
