Delhi traffic police on Tuesday warned of strict action against those found performing stunts on motorbikes.

“The incidences of performing stunts by motorcycle riders are illegal, so Delhi Police will initiate criminal action against any person indulging in such nuisance and aggressive behaviour,” Anil Shukla, additional commissioner of police (traffic), warned in a Facebook post.

Delhi Police have also appealed to the guardians of youths to rein in their wards to avoid accidents.

“Action shall also be taken against the riders indulging in traffic violations. The motorcycles and driving licenses of the riders will be impounded, and the riders arrested.”

The warning came after >a youth was killed and another one injured in a police firing Sunday night when a group of bikers was caught performing stunts in the heart of the city.

“In case the riders are found under the influence of alcohol or in possession of weapons, appropriate sections of law will be added and cases instituted against the registered owners,” Mr. Shukla said.
