The details that have emerged from interrogation of the two accused arrested in connection with the rape of a 51-year-old Danish woman on Wednesday are shocking in nature, say investigating sleuths.
According to sources, the probe reveals that the Danish woman was gagged and beaten during the act. There were many injury marks on her body from a knife used by the accused men. “The men also allegedly used condoms while performing the act. One of them allegedly went to a nearby chemist to buy condoms for them, while the others kept assaulting her,” said a source.
The two accused, Mahender alias Ganja and Mohammed Raza, arrested on Wednesday were produced before a local court on Thursday that remanded them in three-day police custody.
Mahender has a criminal background. He was involved in five cases including murder, robbery and a rape case in the past and was in judicial custody in connection with one of these cases. He was released from jail two months ago, informed a source.
On Thursday, the Delhi Police arrested another accused identified as Raju alias Bhajai (23), a homeless vagabond, who is also a drug addict according to the police. Raju will be produced in a court on Friday. He was arrested at the Nizamuddin railway station.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police continued to conduct raids at other places to nab the remaining five perpetrators who are still absconding. Forty teams of the Delhi Police including the local Central Delhi Police and Special Staff have been roped in.
All the arrested accused have been booked under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code including 376D, 394, 397 and 506 read with 34. The victim’s statement under Section 164 Cr.PC has already been recorded before a magistrate to strengthen the case and senior Delhi Police officers are in touch with her over e-mail.
The victim, who flew back to Denmark on Wednesday morning, will also communicate with the investigating officials through video conferencing.
