A Class XII student was abducted in a car and raped allegedly by a young man in a jungle near Dwarka in South-West Delhi on Tuesday. The accused is still at large.
The 17-year-old girl left her residence in the afternoon telling her parents that she was going to the coaching institute. On the way she met a male friend from whom she had to collect a book. While the two were waiting at a bus stop an acquaintance of the girl’s friend reached there in a car around 3-30 p.m. He offered them a lift and took a round of the area, showing them his properties. On the way, he stopped in Sector 9 of Dwarka and asked the girl’s friend to get something for him from a shop.
As soon as the boy left, the accused drove off with the girl. “He took the victim to a nearby jungle and raped her. He then abandoned her there, threatening to tell her parents that she was having affair with his friend if she revealed about the incident to them,” said Neelam Sharma of non-government organisation Deep Jyoti.
When the victim’s friend returned and did not find the car there, he called up the police control room. While the police were trying to trace the girl, she somehow returned home but did not reveal anything to her parents.
“It was only after the police contacted them that they came to know about it and agreed to lodge a case,” said Ms. Sharma.
Based on the victim’s statement, the police have registered a case and have also identified the accused who is a resident of Bijwasan.
“Although the police are yet to arrest him, they are unnecessarily harassing the boy who had reported the incident. Since the police have a photograph of the accused, it should not be a problem for them to track him down. However, both his mobile phones are now switched off and he has gone underground,” alleged Ms. Sharma.

I shall say that the Delhi peoples did not know how how to respect the
female whether she is a Mother/Aunt/Sister/Daughter because they are
often feels they are safe behind the cultural diversity and adaptation
of western culture. One more thing I have to admit that only a portion
of people those who are clinging to the traditional morality their
emotions are out busted into sexual......Sorry rest you all know...
What is it with Delhi people? I personally feel it may be because many of the people
have political contact and thus are in the impression of getting away with any thing
and may be in most petty cases they do get away (like traffic violation etc) this gives
their moral a boost and end up doing such horrific crimes.
Its time the powerful people in the state of Delhi do something about these crimes
against women. I wish these brats are punished severely and made an example to
others with like thinking.
Till the point Delhi police or the ones responsible do something about these animals
in human-form women should always be accompanied by other female companions
and avoid getting in vehicles or go with, in isolated places alone.
And for media I believe should let such news be highlighted for every Indian to know
how low we stand in protecting women rights.
