Car rams barricade, head constable hurt

A head constable was injured during picket checking when a vehicle hit the barricade that he was standing next to in the early hours of Sunday.

The driver is absconding while the offending vehicle has been seized.

The picket was on a service road along NH-8, when a car with a UP registration number hit the barricade. Head constable Premchand suffered a fracture in the right leg, said Additional DCP (south) Chinmoy Biswal.

A case has been registered under Sections 186 ( Obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 332 (Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) and 279 (rash and negligent driving) of the Indian Penal Code.
