Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa on Sunday appealed President Pranab Mukherjee to dismiss the Parkash Singh Badal government for allegedly converting prosperous Punjab into a “mafia” State.
“This is to bring to your urgent notice that law and order situation in Punjab is rapidly deteriorating.
“I am constrained to draw your attention to illegal and strong-arm tactics that have been consistently deployed by the Badal family to promote and further their business interests at the cost of the general public in Punjab,” he said in a missive to the President, copies of which were released to media.
The Badal family has reduced the once prosperous Punjab “into their own personal fiefdom” resulting in the complete breakdown of law and order in the State, he alleged.
He specifically referred to the molestation and death of a 13-year-old girl in Moga who was thrown out of speeding a bus owned by Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and his immediately family members.
Mr. Bajwa said Sukhbir Badal should have been booked for culpability in the death of the girl. He said the only way out was the dismissal of the State government under Article 356 and imposition of President’s Rule. - PTI
