Alleged rape of minor in shelter home

April 07, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - Kota (Rajasthan):

A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by the caretaker of a shelter home for seers near Dussehra Maidan here, the police said on Wednesday.

However, the medical examination of the victim has ruled out rape.

Mahant Preetamdas Maharaj (55) on March 25 took the girl in his room in a shelter home for seers and allegedly raped her there, Sub—Inspector Shambu Dayal said.

The girl narrated the incident to her parents who later filed a complaint with police on March 26. Her father also accused police of delaying registration of an FIR.

The FIR was registered on April 3 under Section 376 (rape) of IPC and POCSO Act. -- PTI
