Two persons were killed during altercations over trivial issues in the Capital in the last 24 hours.
The first incident took place in West Delhi’s Ranhola on Friday afternoon, where a 21-year-old was stabbed to death.
“Mohit, Rahul and Shiv had stepped out to celebrate Holi and were waylaid by Rakesh, Vicky and Pawan, who asked them to shell out money for liquor. When Mohit and his friends refused, an altercation broke out. In the ensuing melee, Vicky stabbed Mohit in the abdomen,” said a senior police officer.
The assailants fled the spot after stabbing Mohit. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Mohit was pursuing his graduation from Open School of Learning and also pursuing a course in multimedia from a private institute.
The second incident took place in Central Delhi’s Daryaganj late on Friday night, when a 30-year-old rickshaw-puller was beaten to death in a brawl that broke out between him and his friends over distribution of money.
According to police, Somnath was attacked by his friend Saurabh, also a rickshaw-puller, while they were consuming alcohol. The duo allegedly fought over exchange of some money.
A case of murder has been registered and Saurabh has been arrested, the police said.
