Forest Department has decided to establish cost-effective and weather proof anti-poaching camps in the Coimbatore range.

District Forest Officer V. Thirunavukkarasu and Sirumugai Range Officer C. Dinesh Kumar said one such structure, using puff panels with GI sheets, was nearing completion at Sirumugai Modakku. Works were on for three such structures in Coimbatore. Two more would come up atop the hills in Narasipuram and at Parapatti, near Aatumalai, in Booluvampatti range.

Both these places share borders with Kerala.

The district has 14 anti-poaching camps. Officials said that cost of constructing concrete structures was over Rs. 11 lakh, weather proof structures would cost less than Rs. 5.5 lakh.

These structures would last for about 25 years.
