Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam will stage a protest in Chennai on May 23 to protest against the discrimination against Tamils in recruitment to the Ordinance Cloth Factory (OCF).

In a release issued here on Monday, organisation’s general secretary Ku. Ramakrishnan said that in the recent recruitment drive the OCF administration had recruited 31 persons and of those only two were Tamils.

This was against the Central Government rules that said that in such recruitment, the Government establishments should give priority to people from the State concerned and also to those from the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes communities.

This does not seemed to have happened if one were to go by the recruitment. Therefore, the organisation would stage a protest, he explained in the release.
