Tight security in Coimbatore

Tight security arrangements have been put in place in and around Coimbatore City in view of the Babri Masjid demolition anniversary falling on Monday.

In City, under the supervision of City Police Commissioner C. Sylendra Babu more than 2,000 police personnel are on bandobust duty.

In addition to the personnel from Coimbatore City, additional reinforcements have been drafted from Armed Reserve and Tamil Nadu Special Police Battalion.

Deputy Commissioners of Police N. Kamini (Crime and Traffic), E. S. Uma (Head Quarters), Vallinayagam (Armed Reserve) will supervise the security arrangements and would be assisted by ten Assistant Commissioners of Police, 25 Inspectors, 100 Sub-Inspectors besides more than 1,500 police personnel.
