Three persons were arrested for murdering a man, stuffing the body into a gunny bag and dumping it in a well at Kuniyamuthur on the outskirts of the city, police said.
The decomposed body was noticed by a farmer when he went to switch on the motor for irrigation purposes on Monday last week.
Investigations revealed that the deceased, Selvam had been hacked to death by his cousin brother after a quarrel over purchase of goats.
The cousin’s parents, who witnessed the incident on Sept 17 rushed to the spot, but found Selvam dead. They then stuffed the body in a bag and threw it into the well, police said.
