With curtains coming down on the Road Safety Week observance, students took out a rally from VKK Menon Road to VOC Park grounds highlighting the need for responsible behaviour on roads and compassion to fellow road users.
Students carried placards on road rules, and dos and don’ts in a bid to sensitise the motorists on the need to avoid practices that lead to accidents.
The observance included road shows, skit and eye and medical camps for drivers. It was organised by the District Administration, Transport Department, Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation and Coimbatore City Traffic Police.
On 12th January, a cultural programme was organised to explain the road safety measures such as the need for wearing helmets, avoiding drunk driving, use of cell phone while on wheels, wearing of seat belts, use of dazzling head lights, and compliance to road rules.
Fire and Rescue Services in association with Indian Medical Association had organised a training on pre-hospitalisation trauma care training programme, said M. Shahul Hameed, Joint Director of Fire and Rescue Services – Western Region.
