Kumaraguru College of Technology has launched a campaign to mobilise public support to Earth Hour 2010, to be observed on March 27.
In this connection, a pre-Earth hour meeting was organised by the college recently to discuss ways to make Earth Hour a successful event.
Corporation Commissioner Anshul Mishra emphasised the need to conserve energy and protect the eco-system.
He exhorted the students to promote the practice of switching off non-essential lights and create awareness on Earth Hour.
All the dignitaries and student representatives from various colleges pledged their support by participating in the signature campaign.
Representatives from various non-Governmental organisations such as Residents Awareness Association of Coimbatore, Osai, Siruthuli and student volunteers from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University and Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Sri Ramakrishna Arts and Science College, Ranganathan Engineering College and Kalaivani College of Technology participated in the meeting and extended their support to make this campaign a huge success.

The Rotary Coimbatore Uptown will organise an Earth Hour 2010 – Lights off Programme at the Avinashilingam University for Women on March 27.
According to a release, the lights off programme will begin at 7.30 p.m.
As many as 6,000 students of the university will light candles to create awareness about the impact of climate change.

To mark Earth Hour 2010 that falls on Saturday (March 27), atmos Resto Café has announced that all lights and electrical appliances will be switched off from 8.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m.
