Commissioner of Coimbatore Corporation K. Vijayakarthikeyan stressed the need to protect and nurture children.
Launching a public charter on child safety here on Friday, he said the initiative should be a move for good things to happen.
The charter was released as part of Masoom of the Coimbatore chapter of the Young Indians (Yi).
The charter was received by Rebeca Rios-Kohn, Director of WDPAC, Arigatou International, New York.
Cultural programmes and awareness skits on child safety were presented by the students of various schools and colleges and volunteers of Shanti Ashram.
