The district administration will request the State government to appoint additional doctors and paramedical personnel at Erode government hospital, said Collector T. Soundiah.
Inspecting the facilities available at the hospital here on Monday, the Collector said that the hospital was equipped with modern facilities. The appointment of additional doctors will enable the hospital to extend quality healthcare services to more number of people in the district, he said.
The vacancies in the neonatal intensive care unit of the hospital would be filled up shortly, he added.
The Collector said that steps would be initiated to construct a parking facility at a cost of Rs. 1 lakh at the hospital. Expressing satisfaction over the functioning of the hospital, Mr. Soundiah appealed to the doctors and paramedical personnel to maintain the hospital clean and ensure the delivery of quality healthcare services. While inspecting the facilities at various wards, the Collector interacted with patients and listened to their grievances.
Hospital officials appealed to the administration to take steps for the installation of a new lift in the main building. The existing lift in the building was not working properly, they said.
Joint Director of Health Dr. Nagarajan, Hospital Superintendent Krishnakumar and senior officials accompanied the Collector during the inspection.
