Nearly three years after Ashok Kumar (25) of Mashal Layout, Puliakulam, was reported missing, it has come to light that he was murdered in Chennai.

According to the Ramanathapuram police, who registered the case on April 16, 2011, they took up the case again as per the instructions of the Commissioner of Police, A.K. Viswanathan.

The police then had recorded the statements of Kumar’s parents, who had told them that he went to Chennai with two of his friends, Santhosh and Henry.

The police confirmed it with Kumar’s mobile phone records.

Based on the records, the Ramanathapuram police got in touch with their counterparts in the Chennai City Police for leads.

The Marina Police informed the team that on April 17, 2011, they had found the body of an unidentified youth.

Investigation revealed that the person found dead was indeed Kumar and that he was murdered.

The police are yet to nab Santhosh and Henry.
