Demanding speedy commissioning of various infrastructure projects and also protesting against poor sanitation in different wards in Tirupur Corporation, the members of Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and people staged demonstration in front of Corporation zone-II office here on Wednesday.

The agitators pointed out that despite making several representations to the administration, the arterial road connecting Poyampalayam in Ward 30 and Ganga Nagar in Ward 29 was still in bad shape.

Mosquito menace

The other grievances on conditions relating to public health and mosquito menace in areas like J.J. Nagar and places falling under Wards 20 and 30 were not addressed till now, they alleged.

According to them, poor hygiene in wards under the Zone-II have been resulting in more and more people getting affected by communicable diseases.

S. Sivabalan, city secretary of MDMK, called upon the authorities to take steps to open the road under bridge (RUB) project connecting the Tirupur-Uthukuli Highway with the Bridgeway colony.

“Despite the portion of the RUB project under the railway track has been completed by the Railways long back, the remaining part of the scheme that needs to be executed by the Highways department is yet to commence.

The people also asked for the early opening of the road over bridge project near Vanchipalayam.
