Mangalam police on Tuesday registered a case against the owner of a South Korean garment buying house and its liaison manager in India for defaulting payment of goods purchased from a Tirupur-based company to the tune of Rs. 17 lakh and subsequently cheating them.
Police said a complaint was lodged by M. Balasubramanian, Manager of the garment production unit situated at Parapalayam on Tirupur-Mangalam road, that the Korean company was yet to settle the cost of 3,000 pieces of apparel procured from them in January this year.
According to the complainant, a total of 8,736 readymade garments were shipped from Tirupur to the Korean company as per the order received through the liaison manager of the foreign company based in Coimbatore.
However, the Korean company paid only for 5,736 pieces and refused to pay for the remaining pieces stating that they had rejected them.
