Police arrested K. Vijayalakshmi (40) of Andhra Pradesh and her son-in-law Prithviraj (32) in a lodge near Peelamedu for their alleged involvement in flesh trade.
Police sources said that three women, including two college students, were rescued from them and sent to a home.
Vijayalakshmi earlier worked in an HIV counselling unit attached to a government hospital before she allegedly started organising prostitution.
The police said that on Sunday they received a tip-off that a gang was organising the illegal activity in the lodge.
It seized Rs. 1.01 lakh, a mobile phone and a four-wheeler from them.
Vijayalakshmi and Prithviraj were booked under sections 4 (Punishment for living on the earnings of prostitution) and 5 (Procuring, inducing or taking person for the sake of prostitution) of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
They were produced in the court and lodge in prison during the late hours of Sunday.
