Everyone is talking about it. Planet Earth is becoming hotter by the day. The ozone layer is deteriorating and our forests and water bodies are having a harrowing time thanks to our indifference. Nations are joining hands and eco-warriors are doing their best to save the once fertile Mother Earth. But perhaps the most effective means to take the message of conservation to every nook and cranny of the world would be - children. Which is why little Revathy Vijayan's rendition Neruppa , goes straight to your heart. The song is part of Sree Sruthilaya Cultural Academy's music album Vinnai Thoduvom , and calls for a need to protect our planet.
Rendered by children less than 10 years of age, Vinnai Thoduvom attempts to bring about a change in the society, according to Priyanka Varadan, founder and director of Sree Sruthilaya who has also trained the singers. “It was a tough job training the little ones, but I'm happy with the results,” she says.
Noyyal , the energetic lead track of the album has you all pepped up. Marabin Maindan Muthiah shines with every word – the lyricist is at his best in Idhu Yaar and Yean Indha . Yean Indha, sung by six-year-old M. Sremanth is fraught with the distress of a child worker. And what depth! The kid has a gifted voice that can melt a heart of stone.
S.Nakshatra is a star indeed. Her chirpy rendition of Vinnodu , dedicated to Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam is bound to be a runaway hit among the young fanbase of our former president. Oorai Aalum , also by little Sremanth is so full of young energy. High notes are a walk in the park for this youngster.
Vinnai Thoduvom has a total of 9 tracks composed by R.Yanidesh. The album was launched to coincide with the birth centenary of Mother Teresa.
The CD is priced at Rs 75. It is available at Music Gallery in R.S Puram, Star Track (Opposite Sridevi Textiles) Gandhipuram and at Lakshmi Complex.
