Fifteen school children belonging to Birds Nest Foundation, a home for orphaned children were taken to Chennai on what was their maiden tour — a three-day trip to the metropolitan city. The trip was arranged by Madurai Railway Police Friends.

V. Vishva Narayan, Chief Commander of Madurai Railway Police Friends, coordinated and led the team of children. They took the Vaigai Express, and the journey was their first by train.
The children were jubilant throughout their trip and especially excited about the train journey.
The tour saw them visit important tourist spots in the capital of Tamil Nadu which included Valluvar Kottam, Santhome Church, Marina Beach, Vandalur Zoo, and various other places.
The programme was sponsored by S. Srinivasan, chairman and managing director, Baba Group of Companies, Chennai.
M.V. Poornachandar, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Railways, Madurai, flagged off the train journey and had extended his greetings for a safe journey.
The students were also given a warm reception when they returned to Madurai.
The arrangements for the trip were done with help from S. Jeyaprakash, Madurai Railway Police Friends.
The Tamil Nadu Railway Police Friends in Madurai has been involved in various social services to the community with a great zeal, said Mr. Vishva Narayan.
