Practical path

In my opinion truth is the single most important principle of Gandhiji which we should hold on to in our life.

My experiment with truth is one of the best autobiographies ever written. It is most inspiring and educative and shows a practical way to practise truth.

For freedom

The philosophy of non-violence is the one to follow. It was this that won us our freedom. Many world leaders have appreciated this philosophy of Gandhiji and have tried to adopt the same methods. This also means tolerance to various castes and beliefs.

SHILPA MENON, IX A, Bishop Moore Vidyapith (HSS), Mavelikara, Dist. Alappuzha, Kerala.

Most important

Mahatma Gandhi's most important principle which is applicable even today is non violence. It was his non violent method of action that won us our freedom.

J. MOSES, VIII, St Francis High School,Hoskur Gate, Electronic City, Bangalore

Never give up

I believe that the “Never Say Die” spirit of Gandhiji must be imbibed by one and all. His relentless fight against the British despite various setbacks is inspiring. Also he always stuck to truthfulness and non-violence.

D. SAI RAM, IX B, Abhyasa Residential Public School, Toopran

Be the change

According to me the single most important teaching that we must follow is — Be the change you seek in the world. We all want peace to exist in the world. We all want our cities to be clean. We all want ahimsa and non-violence. To make these changes possible, we need to become a part of the change. It is we who can make the world a better place and we should not expect others to do it for us.

PRIYANKAR KUMAR, VIII E, Little Rock Indian School, Brahmavar, Udupi district, Karnataka-576 213

Try patience

The single most important principle that continues to be relevant today is the need to be patient. Gandhiji preached non-violence, ahimsa, satyagraha and the basis of these three is patience.

T.S.RAMKUMAR, XII, Thiagarajar Model Higher Secondary School,Teppakulam, Madurai

Complete unity

The need for the complete unity and integrity of body, mind and soul in the individual is perhaps the most important principle that should guide all our thoughts and actions just as it did the Mahatma..

V.ASHWAN, IX G, T.V.S.MHSS, Madurai

Secret of success

Patience is what is required if we have to move forward. It is patience that won the day for Gandhiji too. Patiently he stood by his principles and watched as success came his way.

KULSUM IFTEKHAR, IX, St Mary's High School, Kurubrahalli, Banglore

Three things

Gandhiji's philosophy of ahimsa, truth and love are the three things that will help us live a peaceful and a better life. The concept of nonviolence (ahimsa), truth and love will always win.

K.NEHA, VI, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Public School, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad

Winning score

Of all the Mahatma's philosophies, I believe nonviolence holds good in the present day political field. The concept of nonviolence (ahimsa) and non-resistance has a long history in Indian religious thoughts. In his autobiography The Story of My Experiments with Truth, he was quoted as saying: “When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall — think of it, always.”

N. TANVI, VIII, Visakha Valley, Visakhapatnam , Andhra Pradesh

Nothing is impossible

Mahatma Gandhi preached and influenced us to believe in truth and non violence to achieve and surmount impossible things. He followed the path of truth and non violence to get freedom for India.

SNEHA R IYER, VII-C, Palghat Lions School, Palakkad, Kerala

The winner

As the future citizens of India we have to follow the path of Truth because in end truth always wins.

SANKET NANDYAL, V, Vasavadatta Vidya Vihar, Vasavadatta Cement Factory, Sedam, Gulbarga

Simple rule

The most important principle of Gandhiji that we should follow is non-violence. And if we follow this principle of Gandhiji then we are sure to succeed.

AKASH SIVARAM, X C, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ottapalam.

Truthfulness

In my opinion the single most important principle of Gandhiji is that we should hold on to is to never tell lies. When Gandhiji was young he lied to his father about a pen that he had taken. When his father came to know of it Gandhiji was scolded. He regretted what he had done. V.P.THEERTHINI, VI - B, CS Academy, Erode.

Non violence

The most important principle of Mahatma Gandhi is ahimsa or nonviolence. Mahatma Gandhi always ‘fought' to bring peace and harmony to our country without using weapons. Gandhiji showed us that Ahimsa is the greatest weapon.

JEBEEN THAHIR, V11 A, Matha Senior Secondary School, Thumpoly, Alappuzha, Kerala

For today

I think Truth is the single most important principle of Gandhiji's that is we should follow today.

MAHIMAN S. BISSA, VI D, St. Anselm's Pink city school, Malviya Nagar, Jaipur.( Rajasthan)

Straightforward

For me the most important principle we should follow truth. It is such a simple word yet Gandhiji dedicated his life to a better understanding of this.

SANJANA R.P, VI-E, Bal Bharati Public School, New Delhi

Battles of today

Non-violence is what is needed in today world of aggression.. What inspired me about Gandhiji's thought about non-violence is — in case you have a gun in your hand, others will also have it and the fight will never stop.

RITVIK SHUKLA, VIII C, Bhavans Rajaji Vidyashram, Chennai

One man army

He lead one man army. Truth and ahimsa were his weapons. According to Gandhiji, non- violence is the weapon of the strong and not weak and cowardly. A true satyagrahi will never bow before injustice.

S. POOJA, V – A, Sengunthar MHSS , Salem

Grama rajya

I think, the Grama Rajya principle of Gandhiji is the single most important principle that we should hold on and follow. Gandhiji was of the opinion that Grama Rajya was the true Rama Rajya and that alone would empower the rural and poor people of India. This will also avoid people moving to nearby towns. This will help for development of rural India which is the need of the hour. By this only India will become super power in the world.

K. LAXMI VASINI, VII G, (AN) T.V.S. MHSS, Madurai

Be armed

Gandhiji used weapons like satyagraha, non-violence, ahimsa and honesty. Of these I think the need for non-violence is what is needed today.

RYA SANOVAR, III-D, Nasr School, Hyderabad.

Really relevant

Gandhiji was the pioneer and most outspoken leader of non-violence. It was relevant at that time and continues to be relevant today. To me violence is temporary and full of danger. However, non-cooperation has been still worse since those years. To me non-cooperation is a continuous and consistent killer of human and social values.

PALLAVI RATHSHARMA, IX, Kendriya Vidyalaya No-1, Bhubaneswar, Orissa

Hold on firmly

I think we should hold on to Truth as the single most important principle of Gandhiji.

NIMISHA BISSA, X B, St. Angela Sophia School , Ghat Gate, Jaipur.( Rajasthan)

To move forward

The most important principle of Gandhiji that we should hold on to us truthfulness. If all Indians hold on to this principle, we will not have so many scams, we would have been a developed country by 2010 as former President Dr A.P.J Abdul Kalam predicted. But, alas! some selfish people, who are more concerned about the welfare of themselves and their families more than that of the Nation, make us go backward.

P. VIGNESHWAR, VIII B, DAV School, Adambakkam.
