Mettupalayam: A free eye camp was held at SSVM between June 18 and 20 by a team of optometrists from The Eye Foundation under the guidance of Dr D. Ramamoorthy.
The chief optometrist gave a talk on eye care to promote awareness. The importance of eye donation was also explained to students.
Sindhi Vidyalaya goes green
Coimbatore: The Eco club was inaugurated in Sindhi Vidyalaya by Geeta Sridhar representing Siruthuli. She highlighted the importance of GO GREEN Project and also the preservation of environment. The Principal R. Gowri, Tarun Shah (a member of Siruthuli) and other Samaj members were present.

Vaels stresses drug abuse awareness
Chennai: Vaels International school in association with Narcotics control Bureau organized an Inter School Drug Awareness programme on Alcohol and Drug addiction effects for school students. Besides Vaels International School students, 800 students from nearby schools attended the program.
A street play on the theme “Drug Abuse and its Impact” was also held. The aim of the programme was to create a national response to the menace of drugs.
M. Saravanan, Intelligence officer, Narcotics control Bureau, and Arthi.K. Ganesh, pro-Chancellor, Vaels University presided over the function. The programme concluded with a message from Dean V. Venkatachalam urging the students to stay away from drugs.
Lalaji Omega kicks off Decennial celebrations
Chennai: The Lalaji Memorial Omega International School flagged off its Decennial Celebrations with the Founder’s Day and the Annual Function for Classes VI to XII. The theme for the evening was ‘Let’s endeavour together’.The Chief guest was P. Ravi, Regional Director, of NIOS, Chennai.
Bhavana Bhavani Shankar and Saloni of Class XII presented the School’s Annual Report, highlighting the main activities, moments of pride, challenges and upcoming projects.
The correspondent S. Ramakrishna addressed the gathering, followed by the prize distribution and the chief guest’s speech.
The students performed a song written about the vision of the founder.
The next event was the Omega Fest, a two day carnival which had exhibits, food stalls, a blood donation camp and cultural programmes.

The candidates were from classes IX and XII, and the students of the secondary section voted. The School pupil leader (SPL), Assistant School pupil leader (ASPL), leaders for Discipline, Cleanliness, Sports and Cultural activities were selected
The Investiture Ceremony ceremony was held and the correspondent R.Rajendran administered the charge to the captains with portfolio badges and sashes.
