It is confirmed! You are pregnant! Wonderful! Then you realise that your body is undergoing tremendous change – you seem to look round in every angle. The new-age mom-to-be is confident and willing to invest in designer clothing to look gorgeous as she embarks on this wonderful journey.

And, if she looks great now, she also wants to capture that look for eternity. Right on cue comes Baby Theory, started by Varsha Jeetendra and her sister-in-law Akhila Jayaram. “I know I will not go in for another child now,” says Varsha a mother of two. “I wanted to capture this moment and wanted to look good. That’s how Baby Theory started,. Akhila and I went around buying clothes and props to create an ambience in our home to capture my moods and emotions. It was a beautiful journey. That’s what we want to give other expecting moms. Make them feel and look good with their bumps and give them those images to keep as memories.”

Varsha and Akhila call themselves “Mom’preneurs” as both quit their jobs to follow their passion and keep themselves busy clicking pictures of moms-to-be as well as toddlers and children.

While Varsha is a photographer, Akhila, who is expecting her first child, works on the creative side of the shoots. “Today women want to flaunt their bumps. They are proud of it and also dress trendily. We create fun-filled photo sessions for them. Sometimes even the husbands are game and join in to pose. Overall it’s a part of their journey, excitement and expectations that we are a part of,” says Varsha

That’s not all. The two women will even be with you for through your pregnancy right till the birth and present you with a book of photographs, chronologically arranged. “Our work is popular with the IT crowd. They get these books made and send it to their relatives who live abroad or other states.” The book, which costs a whopping Rs. 10,000, is stylishly done with hard paper and smart captions.

They have a studio in Indiranagar and have set it up with “natural and controlled lighting”. They are even into outdoor shoots and prefer early mornings or evenings to “avoid using flash”.

Vasha and Akhila specialise in toddler images saying it is challenging to take good picture of tiny babies as “they fall asleep, get cranky or simply crawl away. Because we are mothers we are able to handle them.”

The duo also do birthday videos and a two-minute slow motion video of your child’s first meal, first step or anything you want. “They have to name it and we will do it for them,” they assure.
