The first thing that strikes you about Ruby Parihar is her sharp features. Pretty and slim, this twenty-year-old actress, who hails from Uttaranchal gave up fashion designing when an opportunity to act knocked at her door. A little nervous and unsure she chooses her words carefully and speaks in a mixture of Hindi and English. An agency got her the offer of Deva Katta's project Prasthanam that has Sharvanand as the hero.
“Whatever little I have learnt about movies, it is from Prasthanam, I have not undergone any coaching in acting or dancing. I'm playing Sharvanand's love interest, a medico,” says Ruby. Even though she is the first one from her family to get into films she didn't have a problem convincing her parents. Her father works in the BSF and mother is a housewife.
She giggles, “I'm wearing half saris most of the time in Vijayawada and I got to see a famous temple there.” So how is she finding Hyderabad and it's people? She says, “Yahan ke log bahut acche aur supportive hai, the best part is they pamper and treat a newcomer like a queen. Hyderabad is so nice.”
Ruby idolizes Kareena Kapoor and wants to make it big like her some day. She adds, “I am looking forward to meaningful, character-oriented roles. Also, I do not think there is much to differentiate between Bollywood and South Indian movies, as we have almost the same technicians working with us. Language is not a barrier at all. I'm excited about my debut film, it's releasing in the first week of February. I guess I've managed it quite well.”
