Kairali TV has launched the first-ever reality show based on selected international best selling non fiction books. Organised as a 30-minute weekly competition, the show features teams from the best MBA Institutes of the state in lively discussions based on books on Management, Science, Technology, Economics etc. The programme titled ‘MBA Grand Challenge 2009' will be telecast between 3-3:30 p.m. on all Saturdays. Teams from around 40 management institutes attended the screening tests held at Kozhikode, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. Twelve teams which came out successful in the screening test will contest in the first round.
The books selected for the first round are The Elephant, the Tiger & the Cellphone by Shashi Tharoor, From Bankruptcy to Billions by Sudhir Kumar & Shagun Mehrotra, The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins and The Black Swan by Nicholas Taleb.
Sam Santhosh, CEO and MD of Calsoft, an IT Group, is the moderator and mastermind of the programme.
Each round has three segments. The first segment consists of powerful presentations by the teams on the book highlighting its core theme, insight & criticism. The second segment carries a lively debate on the book and the third a breathtaking buzzer quiz round. Three teams compete in each round. A panel of three judges assesses their performance.
The preliminary round will be followed by semifinals and finals and the winners based on their ranking will be judged the super managers. Prizes worth Rs.5 lakh await the winners.
