What would happen if CSK had to not only play the IPL but also the APL? Wondering what APL is? All Planets League (APL) is where cricket teams from around the universe fight for the UCC (Universal Cricket Cup). The diverse looks of aliens and their style of playing cricket adds to the excitement. CSK is the only team to represent the Earth at APL.

This is the outline of a 64-page comic book written by Vijay Asokan, a hard core cricket fan, who hopes to get it published soon. He has already published a book of cartoons earlier. In January 2013, his passion for cricket got him thinking and he wrote out a plot that involved all the planets vying for a cricket cup. “Initially I thought moving from a general genre to a more specific one would take time and would be tough, but my love for cricket made it easy. I was able to come up with a plot and visualise it to make sure it left an impact on the readers.”

Three months later, in April, his efforts paid off. He approached the marketing team of the CSK to publish it as a part of the team’s merchandise. Asked how he came up with the idea, he says, “I have always loved cartoons, science and fantasy. It was easy to weave all this into a narrative. I needed to imagine how different aliens would use their powers to play cricket and once I got thinking, there was no stopping.”

Vijay has also done some research before he came up with the idea of adding this book to the existing merchandise of home team. “Till now, all the merchandise, especially the books, were all fan-based. I decided to break this norm and create something that the readers would enjoy.”

Though he has not yet heard from the CSK marketing team, Vijay has not lost hope. “I am already working on the sequel!”
