As November heralds the traditional welcome to winter, it is the perfect season to usher in Italian cuisine to tempt the taste buds. Think Italian cuisine and Hyderabadis think delicate baby corns, tangy jalapeños, olives, pizzas and pastas. Or you could think of Prego, the fine dining Italian restaurant in The Westin at Raheja IT Park in Hi-tech city, which promises a real Italian punch to foodies.
Surrounded by IT companies, the location of the hotel seems ideal for the corporates working in the nearby offices. However, Sachin Mylavarapu, the food and beverage manager says the hotel has seen not just the IT crowd but foodies ranging from film stars, working professionals and Italian lovers enjoying a delightful meal. The proof is their ‘wall of fame' which has photographs of foodies who come often here. “The traditional perception of Hyderabad has seen a major change. This part of the city is buzzing with activity and people love to hang out here,” says Sachin.
The ambience at the 138-seater restaurant is quite Italian – fun, food and music. Drop in during evenings, and the restaurant comes alive with its loud music. “Music is vibrant and helps in creating a fun ambience. And, when someone drops something on the floor, everybody claps here instead of the usual stares,” smiles Sachin.
The menu is comprehensive packing in all Italian specialities, with some real tongue twisting names. Enjoy Pera allo zafferano grigliata con insalata di gorgonzola - saffron griller pear and gorgonzola salad with walnut, honey and rosemary dressing as a cold starter. Savour Mozzrella fritta con parmogiano (deep fried mozzarella with warm caper, olive sauce and shaved parmesan), Calamari fritti salsa tartara (deep fried squid, tartare sauce) as hot starters. Savour different flavours of veg and non-veg pizzas (you can create your own pizza too) and pastas. To end the meal on a right note, go for the Mud pie - Prego's famous coffee chocolate, White chocolate, orange crème brulee or the delicious Gianduiotto di Tornio - hazelnut chocolate from turin, topped with hazelnut ice cream.
