Echo, the classic and hard rock cover band from Vizag, is coming up with its first heavy metal compositions in a six-song extended play called ‘Against Evil’. The band will be launching its two singles on February 26.
Since its inception in 2010, Echo has opened for many bands like Parikrama, Krosswinds, The Saturday Night Blues Band with Ehsaan Noorani and the grand old man of Blues Lou Majaw. Apart from being the in-house band of The Park for almost a year, the four-piece band Echo has played in various fests and toured places like Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kerala as a cover band. The band line-up has Shashank as the lead guitarist along with guitarist and vocalist Sravan Chakravarthi, bassist and vocalist Siri Sri and drummer Noble John.
“Every member in the band dreamt of being a Heavy Metal Band with own compositions and unique band sound and that’s how the idea of ‘Against Evil’ was formed. We have so far recorded two singles ‘War Hero’ and ‘The Enemy Within’. Both the songs are of a battlefield theme, which connects real life to a war ground and stresses on how an individual has to face his fears and win,” says Sravan Chakravarthi, guitarist and vocalist of Echo.
The band will be dedicating the release of the ‘War Hero’ to their friend Amar Goutam who died in a tragic accident last year on February 26.
While people may condemn heavy metal for being way too loud, the sheer amount of hard work that goes into creating the scale of output and the final product has been perhaps a one of the main source of inspiration for young bands in the country.
“A lot of effort has gone into the final creation. We mixed and mastered ‘War Hero’ in Domination Studios in Italy and the artwork was by ‘All things Rotten’ from Croatia. Our band’s goals are to make these two songs have maximum reach. We have approached Sahil Makhija from the band Demonic Resurrection, who is known as the father of Indian metal scene and he plans to release this single,” says Sravan, adding that the band also plans to approach good record labels and produce the entire six-song extended play.
The band is all set to go forth and tell the world within India and beyond about their style of heavy metal.
Feeling hopeful of hitting new shores, the band says, “In the Indian metal scene, the bands are either too heavy or too melodic. We have the USP of being a right mix of both and we hope we can make it big.”
