Design Summit (organised by the HYSEA), held at HICC, Novotel, with its focus set on celebrating design, was a stage that helped start-ups evaluate themselves, meet the target groups, investors, sponsors and also ponder upon their entrepreneurial journey. The best of the lot were felicitated with the little innovations they came up with, in designing their work-space, the product and several other aspects.

A pleasing sight at the venue was the impressive student-entrepreneurs from various engineering colleges across AP and Telangana. Even otherwise, though you could spot similar faces from firms who turned up for start-up fests across the city last year, there were ones from Bangalore, Gurgaon and Nalgonda making a mark this time around.

We decided to take a look at the few impressive ones here.

Inner Chef

What: Food delivery service

Inner Chef, available through website and app, which has established itself well in the NCR region, Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, stepped into Hyderabad only a couple of weeks ago. Running its services on two models, ready to eat and 15-minute meals (where one needs to follow the recipe), they reveal their strength is the varied dessert options they offer.

Broadcast

What: programmable T shirt

Broadcast, a digital T-shirt, ideated by Ayyappa Nagubandi, makes use of the LED lighting, displaying the text a consumer wants, with the help of a mobile app and a working Bluetooth connection. The user after buying the shirt has to download the app, setup a Bluetooth connection between the shirt and the mobile. Then, he/she has to type in the text that they want to display on their t-shirts. This is a subtle way to share thoughts, support teams and make statements.

Agrowbook.com

What: A social network for farmers

Agrowbook.com is a social networking solution for farmers, who often end up paying higher prices in buying goods, pesticides and several things required to keep their crops in tact.

The website authorities appoint a person to be a bridge between both the farmer and vendor, bringing them together on one platform and ensure right pricing. It also serves as an online marketplace and an information hub (streamlining all the government schemes, online videos for farmers), with a functional supply chain too.

Bookmeds.com

What: Online pharmacy store

What makes Bookmeds.com (also a winner at the Bio Asia 2016 Summit) unique is its obligation to make a user upload the doctor prescription to the site to buy medicines. The pharmacist would then verify the copy and ensure its delivery. The firm on another note also helps establish pharmacies in rural towns besides metros. Its founder Mohammed Abubakr, had left his 7-year-old job at Microsoft to establish this.

Hit Wicket

What: Cricket management game

One of the topmost cricket management games across the country with over five lakh users, Hit Wicket lets you own a cricket team, manage it, be a virtual captain of sorts in a 20-20 league. You’re provided with a certain amount, through which you can buy players and also remove them. Moreover you can invite your friends to be the opposition in a networked fashion or let the computerised-bot do the honours. (Can be played on FB and app)

Some of the winners at the fest:

Kitki, GrabOn , GGK Technologies, Tinmen, Stumagz, Nukkadshops, E-seva world, Shoppers Express
