My skin is very dry. After washing my face, I can see dry, white patches. Which soap should I use?Irshad

Avoid soap and use a cleansing cream or gel. Or use a mild glycerine soap. After cleansing, wipe your face with rose water, using cotton wool. Apply sunscreen lotion before going out in the sun, or moisturising cream if you are at home. Once daily, at any time, mix together egg yolk with a little pure almond oil and apply it on your face. Wash it off after 20 minutes. You can also apply aloe vera gel. At night, after cleansing your face, massage your face with a nourishing cream diluted with a few drops of water. Wipe off the excess cream with moist cotton wool before bedtime.

Suggest how I can get rid of dandruff.Sivaram

For dandruff, apply a non-oily herbal hair tonic on the scalp daily, using cotton wool and leave it on. Avoid massaging your scalp. Part your hair into sections and apply the tonic on your scalp. Wash your hair with a mild herbal shampoo three or four times a week, using very little shampoo and taking care to rinse it off well with water. Half an hour before a shampoo wash, lightly massage your scalp with two tablespoons of vinegar. Once a week, heat olive oil or til oil and apply it on your scalp at night. Leave it on overnight. The following morning, apply the vinegar as advised half an hour before a shampoo wash. Include fresh fruits, salads, sprouts and yoghurt in your daily diet. Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water daily. Add the juice of a lemon to a glass of water and drink it first thing in the morning.

What should I do to make my face look bright through the day?Pradeep

You have not mentioned your skin type. However, after cleansing your face, apply chilled rose water, using cotton wool. Use a facial scrub twice a week. This helps remove dead cells and brighten the skin. If the skin is oily, mix multani mitti with rose water into a paste and apply it on your face at least three times a week. Wash it off after it dries. Carry wet tissues, or wet wipes. They are useful in a humid climate. Wipe your face with tissues during the day, to cleanse and refresh the skin.

I have many pimples on my forehead and face. Suggest remedies.Menaga

Check to see if you have dandruff, as it can lead to pimples on the forehead. After washing your face, apply astringent lotion, using cotton wool. You can apply sandalwood paste on the pimples daily. Or, boil neem leaves over a low fire. Cool and strain the liquid. Make a paste of the leaves and apply it daily on your face. Wash it off with water after half an hour. Mix cinnamon powder with a little lemon juice and a few drops of honey into a sticky paste. Apply it only on the pimples daily, leaving it on for one or two hours. Mix multani mitti with rose water and lemon juice into a paste and apply it on your face two or three times a week. Wash it off after it dries. Avoid creams and moisturisers. Use only oil-free products.

I have a bald spot that is growing steadily. I have extremely curly hair and used to apply gel and go in for straightening treatments when I was in school. I'm paying the price for it now.Jezreel

You should consult a doctor, as this could be a condition called alopecia. Apply a non-oily herbal hair tonic on the scalp daily, using cotton wool and leave it on. Avoid massaging your hair. Part the hair into sections and apply the tonic on your scalp. Apply oil once a week the night before a shampoo wash. If you like, you can apply olive oil or pure coconut oil. Avoid massaging your scalp. If there is hair loss, it means the roots must already be weak and massaging may aggravate the problem. Diet is important. Eat a small bowl of sprouts daily and include fresh fruits, salads, leafy green vegetables and curd in your diet. Ask your doctor to prescribe Vitamins B-Complex and C.

What should I do to have longer and thicker eyelashes?Sampoorna

Apply a little castor oil daily on your lashes, using a cotton bud. Apply it only during the day. Do not apply it at night and go to sleep, as it can make your eyes puffy. Also, check with a doctor to ensure you do not have problems like dandruff, which can affect the eyelashes and eyebrows.
