New restaurants are mushrooming in Delhi NCR but there are some oldies which still have that spark and are putting up a good fight. One such brand is Geoffrey’s which has improvised with time and evolving palates in serving its patrons for more than a decade now.

One of my favourite places to dine in, I went to their Noida outlet in Center Stage Mall to review the newly launched menu. I still remember that when it opened it was launched as India’s first and only authentic British style pub. The chestnut wood interiors with handpicked curios from all over Europe give that perfect British gastro pub feel.

I settled in my favourite corner and ordered a nice chocolate shake to beat the heat. I just had two-three sips and I was refreshed. Geoffrey’s special grilled chicken salad too was refreshing and had nice greens coated with light mayonnaise dressing. Even the bowl of smoked chicken basil soup was one of the better ones I have had in recent times. Master Chef Paul Gomes added parmesan to the base which made the soup creamy and delicious.

Some of the starters helped to kill the cravings post Iftaar. Good thing about Geoffrey’s is that it offers world cuisines. A chicken tikka followed by an enchilada makes it even more exciting. I tasted black pepper chicken tikka which was bursting with flavours. Reshmi Kabab, which was not as tender as it should have been, was perfect in every other respect. Not a handmade one still worth every bite.

From the Lebanese section, sumac prawns were a letdown as they were overcooked which made them a bit chewy. Crispy fish from the Oriental section was damn good and would please a person with a typical Delhi palate. My main course was corn crusted chicken breast on a sizzler plate. Crunchy breast with melting cheese from within made my day. Kudos to the chef for making a breast taste so moist and tender.

Fish fillet in lemon butter sauce is a dish which foodies will enjoy irrespective of their age. Such was the balance of flavours and spices of the fish. I would not recommend their Indian as the main course compared to the world cuisines which Geoffrey’s offer. But one thing I would surely suggest is their chocolate brownie on a sizzler plate topped with caramel sauce. It kept me drooling till the end.
