Healthy juices supply fat, protein, carbohydrate, vitamins and minerals to the body. A daily helping of blue or red berries contain enough antioxidants to improve balance, coordination and short-term memory. A drink of banana and honey smoothie is a filling breakfast full of flavonoids, calcium and fibre. The combination of spinach, celery and pineapple is excellent for strength. There are plenty of vitamins in oranges, while pineapple aids digestion and also provides instant energy. Lettuce and lemon revive you from that sinking feeling. Here are some easy to make power-packed treats.

Redberry Smoothie

Ingredients:

Redberries - 225 grams

Yogurt - 1 cup

Crushed ice – 1/2 cup

Honey or sugar - to taste

Method:

Wash berries well and put all the ingredients into the blender and work to a thin frothy cream. If too thick, add water to create a pourable consistency. Taste, then add honey or sugar if you prefer. Serves two-three.

Banana and honey smoothie

Ingredients:

Low fat milk - 1 cup

Low fat yogurt - 1 cup

Honey - 1 tbsp

Crushed ice - 3 tbsp

Banana - 1

Wheat germ - 1 tbsp

Method:

Wash and soak wheat germ in water for 15 minutes. Put all ingredients into the blender and blend until smooth. Add extra banana if preferred. Serves two- three.

Vegetable and fruit mix

Ingredients:

Apple unpeeled - 1

Pineapple slices with skin - 2

Palak leaves - 10

Water - 1 cup

Celery with leaves- 2 sticks

Crushed ice – 1/2 cup

Method:

Core and cut apples into pieces. Chop palak roughly. Wash the pineapple before cutting and chop it. Wash celery. After reserving a few for decoration, blend all other ingredients till smooth. Strain the juice using a strainer. Add chopped celery leaves and some crushed ice in 2two glasses and pour the juice over it. Serve immediately. Serves two.

Power drink

Ingredients:

Apple unpeeled - 1

Pineapple - 2 slices

Oranges peeled and segmented - 2

Crushed ice cubes – a few

Method:

Remove the pineapple skin and chop it .Core apple and cut into pieces. Blend all the ingredients in the blender using little water and strain it. Add some crushed ice in two glasses and pour the juice over it. Serve immediately. Serves two.

Lemon-lettuce drink

Ingredients:

Apple unpeeled and cored - 1

Lemon juice - 1 tsp

Lettuce leaves - 2

Seedless green grapes - 4

Water - 1 cup

Crushed ice

Method:

Cut the apple into cubes. Roughly chop the lettuce leaves. Blend all the ingredients and strain the juice. Add some crushed ice in two glasses and pour the juice over it. Serve immediately.
