Chennai Wizkids turned out to be an exciting event with edgy competitions, display of boundless talent and non-stop fun. The two-day inter -school fiesta held at the Kamaraj Arangam Auditorium, saw enthusiastic participation from students across the city.

A beaming Hima Bhindu and Vignesh, winners of the city finals, said that it was an interesting event with loads of fun. “It was unexpected. Suddenly, the Principal called me and told that I was selected for the next round,” said Vignesh of Std X, Chettinad Vidyashram. Hima Bhindu of Bhavan's Rajaji Vidyshram, said, “It was a nice experience and we made a lot of friends here.”

The Introduction and Talent round , which decided the final winners saw the zealous participants singing, dancing, mono-acting and even screening short-films displaying their best talent; and also introducing themselves in the best possible way within the very short time given. This was followed by a Question-Answer round.

The winners will represent the city at the national level competition in November. The national level winners will get an opportunity to represent South East Asia at an international conference to be conducted later this year.

Syed Sultan Ahmed, Managing Director, Edumedia said, “We believe that all kinds of talent should be encouraged. So, we have competitions like War of DJs, Motormouth, News with a Twist and cooking.” There is also poetry recitation, flower arrangement, painting, writing, photography, mehndi and anthashakri.

According to the organisers, the completion encourages maximum participation and does not project one or two children as extraordinary. “We consciously refrain from giving away cash prizes or any big gifts,” they said.
