August 14 - In ‘Quick Death’, the story, the plots, the theme, are all embedded within the 51 scenes, in those images. The characters speak only in one scene, and that too, a few broken and unintelligible words. Here, the characters are products of light and shade. Unlike a well-made play, here the actions don’t add up to form the characters. They provide numerous options and possible associations.
A man falling and a woman screaming can come in any order. There is no correct formula for this scene, and, more importantly, there is no wrong one either. An intriguing and engaging play, ‘Quick Death’, the first play produced by Theatre Roots & Wings, draws on the experimental spirit of contemporary world theatre, to create an experience that never fails to evoke unique responses from the audience.
