The GNB festival

Opening tomorrow at Narada Gana Sabha.

The Global GNB Birth Centenary Celebrations Committee is conducting a music festival from January 6 to 10, at Narada Gana Sabha.

Dr. Karan Singh, president, ICCR, will preside. The Maharaja of Travancore Marthanda Varma and Prof T.N. Krishnan will be the guests of honour.

The committee comprises R. Krishnaswami, N. Murali, S. Vijayaraghavan, V.V. Sundaram, T.R. Subramanian, Sudha Ragunathan, Lakshmi Menon, Jayaram Mani, P.N. Krishnaswamy, N.V. Subramaniam, R. Sundhar, Aruna Ranganathan, Dr. P. Rajagopal, M.R. Prasad and P. Ramabhadran. The advisory committee members are T.N. Krishnan, M. Balamuralikrishna, Lalgudi Jayaraman, N. Ramani and Umayalpuram Sivaraman.

Vedic chants will be presented on January 6, 6.30 p.m. This will be followed by invocation by Sudha Ragunathan and welcome address by N. Murali, president, The Music Academy, and Managing Director, The Hindu. Dr. Karan Singh will deliver the presidential address. Committee member A. Vijayaraghavan will present a report. The curtain will come down with a vocal recital by Aruna Sairam and party, accompanied by Embar Kannan (violin), J. Vaidyanathan (mridangam) and S. Karthick (ghatam).
