Devotional vibes on Annamayya’s birth anniversary

Shobha Raju leads a devotional procession on Annamayya’s 608th birth anniversary.

HYDERABAD: Commemorating the 608th birth anniversary of Annamayya , Mahanagara Sankeerthana was organised by Annamacharya Bhavana Vahini under the guidance of Shobha Raju, founder president of the group.

All the students and devotees started their procession led by her from Chikkadpally Venkateswara Swamy temple to the statue of Annamacharya on Tank Bund, singing the saint’s compositions all along.

A group of women from Visakhapatnam joined the procession playing kolatam .

On reaching the Tank Bund, all the devotees, music lovers, students and well wishers of Annamacharya Bhavana Vahini sang few sankeertanas in memory of the saint.

Shobha Raju, while addressing the gathering, thanked Harish Rao and K T Rama Rao for for their timely response on resurrecting the statue of the saint, which made the whole event possible without any obstacles. She also stated that, like how we clean our homes regularly, it is important to cleanse one’s mind too.
