Super birthdays

When you are ‘Superstar' you get to celebrate your birthday many times over! When Rajinikanth turned 60 recently, the first celebration was when Dhayananda Saraswati visited the actor. And, then followed the others — one on the date of his birth; on the day of his ‘birth star'; one for family and friends; one for the industry folks, and so on... Among the flurry of tinseltown stars who were invited, singer Sudha Ragunathan requested the couple to pose for a photograph with her. Her reason — to tell her daughter that she was, after all, invited to Rajinikanth's birthday!

Back with a bang

3D Studio.com, an entertainment company, has come out with “Devadasiyin Kadhai”, a film on the devadasis of Pedhapuram in Andhra Pradesh. And, the film is seen as an entry vehicle in Tamil for actor Monica Bedi, who's returning to the industry after a hiatus. It is said to have been shot extensively in Pune and Chembur, Mumbai. The film is directed by Gautham, who studied filmmaking at Vancouver Film School, Canada. The dialogues are by Anbazhagan, and the music by Durga.

The new six-packer

Guess who's joined the six-pack bandwagon? Actor Arun Vijay. The actor has managed a lean, mean look for his upcoming film produced by Feature Touch Entertainment. But then, it was no mean task — it came with five months of vigorous training. Says Arun: “My workout regimen included three hours of training twice a day combined with a high-protein diet. But, the toughest part is yet to come — having to maintain this for the next six months!”Arun plays Selva, a simple man brimming with optimism and big plans. The story talks about how circumstances change his life. The film is directed by Magizh Thirumeni, who was an associate of director Gautam Vasudev Menon. Music is by Thaman S. and stunts by Shiva.
