How it happened

I was modelling before I ventured into films. The director of Azhwar was looking for a girl to play actor Ajith Kumar's sister in the film. That was when one of the co-ordinators showed my stills to the director, who felt I would suit the role. Working with Ajith was a beautiful experience; I learnt a lot about acting from him. My first film as heroine was Valluvan Vasugi , directed by ‘Marumalarchi' Bharathi.

How it felt

I was thrilled to see myself on the silver screen. I first watched the film in the AVM studio, then with VIPs in a preview theatre and later in Udhayam. As I did not want people to recognise me, I went to the first-day-first-show with my friends and was part of the audience. But people recognised me and praised my performance.

How life changed

After doing two films in Tamil, I switched to Telugu. Though I didn't know a word of Telugu, I learnt the language and did Sadugudu, directed by Nagaraj — I was featured opposite Jayanth, son of veteran actor Banuchander. Life has changed a little. In Tamil, I am now doing Kootanchoru with Ajay Kumar directed by Anbu Saravanan, Nanum En Kadalum with Anand Krishna directed by SAC. Ramki, Meeravudan Krishna directed by Krishna and Kallupatti directed by Manisekar.
