Comfortably straddling the three film industries — Hindi, Telugu and Tamil — Tamannaah, after Humshakals in Hindi, has joined the team of Prabhas, Rana Daggubati and Anushka, for the Tamil-Telugu bilingual, Baahubali . Directed by the award-winning director S. S. Rajamouli, Baahubali is a big-budget period drama, scheduled for release next year. The movie is said to have some mammoth war sequences, and internationally renowned VFX technicians are working on it. “I play a warrior princess opposite Prabhas. Meanwhile, work is in progress on the other Telugu flick, Aagadu , with Mahesh Babu,” says Tamannaah, who is keenly awaiting her next Bollywood release, Its Entertainment, in which she is paired with Akshay Kumar. “I have also signed a film helmed by Rajesh, in which my co-star is Arya. Contrary to what is mentioned in a section of the press, this film is not a remake, but a straight film — a romantic comedy,” confirms Tamannaah.

Dileepan proves his mettle in action

Following his debut Vathikuchi , Dileepan is busy shooting for his next, Kuthoosi, directed by Sivasakthi, a former associate of director Seenu Ramasamy. “In my first film which was action-oriented, I played an auto driver. Now, Vathikuchi also turns out to be an action film, but with an emotional angle that focusses on a matter of social relevance. My character is that of a village lad in a city environment,” says Dileepan.

Blossoming into a heroine

From a child actor in Malayalam films, Aathira Minnu makes her debut as a heroine in Tamil with Iniya Ulavaaga opposite Prabhu Saravanan. Playing the anti-hero is Kalki, who was earlier seen as a villain in Vengayam . “Kalki plays a drug addict who has designs on the heroine, a cub reporter with a publication. Prabhu is also a reporter in the same publication but, being an introvert, he finds it difficult to express his feelings for her. She tries to reform the drug addict, but falls prey to his desires. How this triangular relationship unravels is the storyline,” says director J. Srinivasan whose earlier film, Othakuthirai , released in 2003.
