What it is about…
Bright Media Warriors’ Kozhi Koovudhu , produced by A. Nagarajan and directed by K. I. Ranjith, features Ashok, Siju Rose, Rohini, Bose Venkat, ‘Adukalam’ Narain, Mayil Samy, Jothilakshmi and Sujatha. The others associated with the film are A. Jayaprakash (camera), E. S. Ramraj (music), LVK Dass (editing), C. N. Kabilan (art), ‘Action’ Prakash (stunts) and Dhina (dances). The story is about how an educated girl falls for a chicken seller and whether they are united in love. Veteran music director M. S. Viswanathan released the audio and director R. C. Sakthi received it.
Music highlights
The first track in the album, ‘Ellorum Otha Saanu,’ written by Viveka and sung by M.S. Viswanathan, Pavan and Aneesh, is the best. ‘Kaatragha En Kaadhal,’ written by Snehan and sung by Shankar Mahadevan, keeps ringing in one’s ears. ‘Vadamallikaari’ is a peppy love duet penned by the same lyricist and sung by Karthik and Anuradha Sriram. ‘Yaaro Nee Yaaro’ a short track sung beautifully by Swetha. ‘Sarapamba Pola’ is another good number, which comes last in the album and is sung by Swetha Mohan, Priya Hemesh and the music director.
What they say…
Producer A. Nagarajan: When director Ranjith outlined the storyline to me, I got interested in it and asked him to write a detailed script. I decided to make the film under my own banner. An interesting storyline, I am sure of the film’s success.
Director K.I. Ranjith: In my school days, I have observed people selling chicks. Having worked under three directors, I decided to strike out on my own. It was then I met producer Nagarajan who evinced interest in the project. I got hold of some of the best technicians in the industry and finished the film on time.
Hero Ashok: A challenging script, I made a conscious effort to differentiate between the characters I have essayed in “ Vaanam Paatha Seemayilae ” and the present Kozhi Koovudhu. Playing Kumaresan, a chick seller in the film, helped me learn about the chicken varieties. Their unique characteristics and the nuances in selling them have been explained interestingly.
Music director E. S. Ramraj: After graduating in music, I performed at concerts and sang for devotional albums. When I got the chance to score the music for a feature film, I grabbed it. Kozhi Koovudhu is my first film, a love story set in a rustic background. I am blessed that the great MSV has sung a song in my composition and even released the album.
