The first teaser trailer of the highly—anticipated animation Kung Fu Panda 3 has arrived.
Although the trailer is in Chinese, fans have much to enjoy as it introduces some new characters as well as bringing back the long awaited Furious Five.
The trailer opens with Master Shifu warning the Furious Five that there will be a war. The mysterious new villain, Kai the Collector, then smirks.
Kai has an enormous bulk with an evil spirit that steals the powers of kung fu masters.
Among the various dynamics that have raised viewer expectations, on one end, the trailer features The Furious Five engage in fierce battle on rooftops and, on the other end, Mei Mei: a female panda who is rumoured to be Po’s love interest. In the last scene of the trailer, Kai hauls a statue to destroy a Chinese monument.
According to the official synopsis, “When Po’s long—lost panda father suddenly reappears, the reunited duo travels to a secret panda paradise to meet scores of hilarious new panda characters.
“But when the supernatural villain Kai begins to sweep across China defeating all the kung fu masters, Po must do the impossible—learn to train a village full of his fun—loving, clumsy brethren to become the ultimate band of Kung Fu Pandas!”
Jennifer Yuh Nelson, who directed Kung Fu Panda 2 , returns as director while Melissa Cobb is tapped as producer.
The voice cast includes Jack Black, Gary Oldman, Dustin Hoffman, David Cross, Angelina Jolie, Michelle Yeoh, Danny McBride, Lucy Liu, Seth Rogen, Jackie Chan, James Hong and the newly—added voice cast members Bryan Cranston, Rebel Wilson and Mads Mikkelsen.
The movie is slated for a US release on January 29, 2016.
