Goethe-Zentrum welcomes the works of four photographers from various backgrounds as they display their takes on life in an exhibition titled Life, organised by Joe Koster . Expect industry-standard prints that further enliven the already captivating works.
Joe, a Swiss national, talks of his photographs, “In 2009, I was given the opportunity to showcase my pictures, mainly covering the rural areas of Andhra Pradesh while travelling to East and West Godavari, Srikakulam, and I got acquainted with the villagers.” On that note, Joe was asked to give an exhibition of his works and that’s when he got in touch with Hari Priya, Carlos del Pozo and Masood Hussain.
Hari Priya, a graduate of NIFT, highlights the travel moments by which she’s inspired, leaning towards arts and culture. A theme she also explores is slow living, a much-needed one in the bustle of Hyderabad.
Masood Hussain explains, “These beautiful moments captured in the wild will make people think about the amazing life that exists beyond the concrete jungles. I hope my work inspires them to do whatever little they can to conserve nature.” Masood holds distinction AFIAP (Artiste Fédération Internationale de l’Art Photographique) from the International Federation of Photographic Art, the world photography headquarters in France. One of the requirements to obtain this distinction is to have one’s images accepted and exhibited in at least seven different countries. “Having your work exhibited in your own city is a different feeling.” Masood never underwent any formal training; his talent derived is purely from experience.
Spanish-born Carlos del Pozo points out that despite there being a lot of rules in regards to composition, light and colour, the perfection of a photograph relies on the eye of the beholder. “I have a preference for scapes, landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes. Water is a main subject in my photography. I’d like people to be aware that behind my photographs there is more than one story; the photographer’s and the viewer’s. Sometimes they meet.”
The Life Exhibition at Goethe-Zentrum runs until May 18.
