AAP, BJP trade charges of vote-buying

February 06, 2015 12:34 am | Updated November 16, 2021 05:18 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

On the last day of campaigning on Thursday, the Aam Aadmi Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party traded charges of distribution of money and liquor to buy votes.

At a press conference just after the campaigning came to a close, AAP leaders alleged that the BJP had been intimidating the poor by grabbing their voter identity cards. However, they denied the BJP’s claims that an AAP candidate had been caught storing and distributing liquor.

“You might get some news on that score, you must wait and watch,” said AAP leader Ashutosh, when asked to specifically respond to the BJP’s claims.

“We are getting responses from all 70 constituencies. We have heard about the BJP distributing money and liquor as well as grabbing ID cards of poor,” Mr. Ashutosh alleged. BJP spokesperson G.V.L. Narasimha said: “They [AAP] have even sold their party ticket in these elections.”
