Research In Motion (RIM) on Tuesday introduced new BlackBerry handset and tied up with Bharti Airtel to exclusively market it in India. Priced at Rs.19,990, Blackberry Curve 9360 smartphone is powered by the new ‘BlackBerry 7' operating system and runs on an 800 Mhz single core processor.
BlackBerry Curve 9360 with a 2.44 inch touch screen is equipped with 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB internal memory with expandable memory up to 32 GB and a 5MP camera with flash and video recording. To make the new smartphone more stylish RIM has given it a slim, weighing at just 99 grams.
“The BlackBerry Curve series has been extremely popular in India…this next generation handset features a stunning new design along with a significant performance upgrade and an unmatched mobile social experience. It provides an ideal upgrade path for our existing Curve customers as well as the millions of feature phone users in the Indian market,” said RIM India Managing Director Frenny Bawa.
Under the partnership, Bharti Airtel is offering two months of free trial usage period for new users. New users would get the Rs.299 BlackBerry plan of Airtel for free for two months while they can enjoy local calls for 20 paise a second and 5 paise per SMS to any one BlackBerry number of choice for one year from the date of purchase.
