Gold continued its upward streak for the third straight session and rose further in the bullion market today by Rs 10 to Rs 20,500 per 10 grams, largely on sustained buying by local parties for the ongoing marriage season, while silver held steady at Rs 45,850 per kg.

Traders said silver lacked necessary buying support at existing higher level and traded around previous levels.

On the domestic front, gold of 99.9 and 99.5 per cent purity added another Rs 10 each to Rs 20,500 and Rs 20,380 per 10 grams, respectively. They gained Rs 150 in the previous two trading sessions. Sovereign remained stable at Rs 16,850 per piece of eight grams.

Silver ready held steady at Rs 45,850 per kg, while silver weekly-based delivery gained Rs 30 to Rs 45,685 per kg.
